Bed Bugs

Bed bugs in mattresses, box springs, and furniture picked up from travel, guests, or used furniture.

How to Identify Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are reddish-brown, oval, about the size of an apple seed, and hide in mattress seams, box springs, headboards, and baseboard cracks near where people sleep. They're most active at night and travel easily in luggage, used furniture, and secondhand clothing.

Signs You May Have a Problem

  • Small rust-colored spots on sheets or mattress seams (fecal spotting)
  • Clusters of bites in a line or cluster on skin after sleeping
  • A sweet, musty odor in heavily infested rooms

Why It Matters

Bed bugs don't respond to general pest treatments, and DIY sprays often push them into adjoining rooms rather than eliminating them. A thorough inspection and combination treatment — residual, contact, and steam where needed — across every room they could have spread to is what actually resolves an infestation.
